Training

Prairie Dog Specialists teaches prairie dog relocation to interested groups and individuals. This summer we have had the pleasure of training City of Lakewood staff, as well as Ken Caryl Park Rangers and volunteers on their own relocation projects. With direct hands-on experience and our sharing of knowledge and colorful anecdotes, park personnel are now ready to do their own prairie dog shuffle.
Above is a photo of Martin, a park ranger toweling a prairie dog at Ken Caryl. Behind him are Adam from Prairie Dog Specialists and Rolly, a volunteer and brand new prairie dog catcher!
By learning relocation techniques themselves, municipalities cannot only offset the costs of prairie dog management, but can also more easily mitigate conflicts between prairie dogs and homeowners.
